About Tony
Adelaide-based photographer Tony Lewis began his career in newspapers. Press work took him to The Times of London, the Sydney Morning Herald, and home to Adelaide for The Australian. Over 20 years’ press experience taught him how to relate to people, work fast, think on his feet, and capture the moment.
He went freelance in 2000, working five years for Getty Images covering news and major sporting events - these pictures have been published globally.
Since 2005, he has combined his passions for food, wine and the arts in his work. His pictures are regularly published in The Adelaide Review and SALife magazine, and have appeared in magazines around the world.
He shoots weddings with a photojournalistic approach, preferring to be in the background capturing the natural flow of a wedding rather than taking over.
He has been the official photographer for many Womadelaide music festivals, he photographs productions for dance and theatre companies and buildings for architects and magazines.
His food pictures were featured in the book, Cibo published in 2005, and he is currently working on another book with world-renowned chef Cheong Liew.
